ABERDEEN, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls track & field teams delivered a strong performance at the Dewey Donat Classic, highlighted by multiple event titles, a school record, and a collection of nationally ranked marks.
The Cougars were led by standout performances from the men's 4x100 relay team, Tamia Horton, Delanie Van Driel, and Bryson Canton. The 4x100 relay team of Brandon Stark, Sabas DeHaan, Micah Holien, and Jonny Cheney set a new school record with a time of 41.89 while also landing on the Division II national list. Horton continued her dominant season with a runner-up finish in the 100 meters, posting an 11.43 that ranks third in Division II this season. Van Driel claimed the shot put title with a personal-best mark that ranks among the top-30 nationally, while Canton led the distance group with a win in the 1500 meters.
USF added another relay victory on the men's side with a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay at 3:16.31, another mark that moved onto the national list. Parker Hahn secured an individual win in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, while Tobi Peterson captured the women's hammer throw title and added a top-three finish in the shot put. The Cougars also saw multiple runner-up finishes, including Gage Grohs in the men's 800 meters and Chloe Aanenson in the women's 1500 meters.
Key Performances
The men's 4x100 relay highlighted the day for the Cougars, as the quartet of Brandon Stark, Sabas DeHaan, Micah Holien, and Jonny Cheney broke the school record with a time of 41.89. The performance not only set a new program standard but also moved onto the Division II national list. USF followed that up with another relay win in the 4x400, clocking 3:16.31 for a top-60 national mark.
On the track, Bryson Canton led the distance group with a win in the 1500 meters, while Jace Cofer added a runner-up finish with a personal best. Gage Grohs delivered a personal-best performance in the 800 meters to place second, and Parker Hahn added a victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Collin Dingsor recorded a personal-best 14.88 in the 110-meter hurdles to place third and move into the Division II top-100.
On the women's side, Tamia Horton continued her standout season with a runner-up finish in the 100 meters, posting an 11.43 that ranks third in Division II this season. Chloe Aanenson and Brooklyn Koll both recorded personal bests in the 1500 meters, finishing second and third, respectively, while Faith Traphagen and Lillian McCone added scoring performances in the 800 meters.
In the field events, Delanie Van Driel led the way with a victory in the shot put, recording a personal-best mark that ranks among the top-30 nationally. Tobi Peterson captured the hammer throw title and added a third-place finish in the shot put with a nationally ranked season-best mark. Peyton Hanson delivered a personal-best clearance of 3.95m in the pole vault to move into the top-20 nationally, while Kendra Hall added a nationally ranked mark in the high jump and Cadence Nuttbrock recorded a top-100 mark in the triple jump.
