BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Fifty-two student-athletes from the University of Sioux Falls have earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Fall All-Academic honors, as announced today (Thursday, Nov. 26) by the league office.
 
The NSIC announced that 820 student-athletes have earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2019 fall athletic season. To be eligible for this honor, a student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Furthermore, the student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, redshirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.

The NSIC highlighted the all-academic team members with a 3.60 or higher GPA on the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. This fall, 456 of the 820 student-athletes had a 3.60 GPA or higher, or 54.0% of the all-academic team. Of that list, USF had 28 of its 51 Academic All-NSIC honorees earn a spot on the All-Academic Team of Excellence (noted by individual below in respective team lists with asterisk).

During the eight years in the NSIC, USF has had 401 Academic All-NSIC honorees from fall sports programs. Those totals include 180 for football; 61 for men's cross country, 46 for women's cross country, 51 in soccer and 63 in volleyball. USF has had at last 50 Academic All-NSIC selections every year since 2015 with 58 in 2018, 57 in 2017, 53 in 2016 and 50 in 2015. 

USF honorees include -

Men's Cross Country (9): *Dan Armstrong, senior, Sioux Falls, S.D.; *Billy Beseman, graduate student, Perham, Minn.; *David Ecker, sophomore, Eau Claire, Wis.; *Logan Hansen, junior, Hurley, S.D.; *Jayden Slaba, sophomore, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Seth Overholt, junior, Chester, S.D.; Blake Johnston, senior, O'Neill, Neb.;  Zach Lundberg, Omaha, Neb.; and Aaron Voigt, sophomore, Gregory, S.D.

Johnston, Beseman, Armstrong and Lundberg are three-time honorees. Hanson, and Overholt are two-year honorees.

In the eight years in the NSIC, the Men's Cross Country team has had 61 academic all-league honorees. The team had nine honorees in 2012 following by eight in 2013, six in 2014, seven in 2015, three in 2016, nine in 2017;10 in 2018 and nine in 2019.  11, including five in 2019, cross country student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Women's Cross Country (8): *Montana Belford, senior, Rawlings, Wyo.; *Taryn Ceglowski, junior, Salida, Colo.; Hannah Ebert, sophomore, Beresford, S.D.; *Sarina Lindell, sophomore, Champlin, Minn.; *Annabelle Schulz, junior, Spearfish, S.D.; Kiara Mattern, junior, Colorado Springs, Colo.; *Maria Streed, sophomore, Chaska, Minn.; and Sadie Thompson, junior, Dawson, Minn.

Belford was named for a third straight year. Ceglowski, Schulz, and Mattern were honored for a second time. Overall, the Women's Cross Country team has had 46 honorees, including three in 2012, four in 2013, five in 2014, five in 2015, five in 2016, eight in each of 2017, 2018 and 2019. Ten USF women's cross country student-athletes, which includes five in 2019, have been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Football (17): Three-time honorees Logan Dykstra, senior, Hull, Iowa; *Brody Grantham, senior, Hayti, S.D.; *Ricky Quintana, senior, Sioux City, Iowa; Joe Rodino, senior, Omaha, Neb.; Isaac Schubert, senior, Madison, S.D.; *Clint Sigg, senior, Longmont, Colo.; Tucker Stout, senior, Spokane, Wash.; Max Sturdevant, senior, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and *Nick Zimmerman, senior, Rosendale, Wisc. Second year honorees include *Jack Schelhaas, junior, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Ty Smith, junior, Sioux Falls, S.D.; *Gabriel Watson, senior, Piedmont, Calif.; Nick (Zeus) Zimmerman, senior, Oceanside, Calif. First-time honorees included Kyle Barnetche, senior, Susanville, Calif.; Dorian Fedrick, junior, Rialto, Calif.;*Ben Sokup, sophomore, Altoona, Wis.; and Jackson Wright, sophomore, Sgt. Bluff, Iowa.

Overall, the team has had 180 honorees since 2012 with 18 in 2012, 19 in 2013, 23 in 2014, 31 in 2015, 29 in 2016, 25 in 2017;18 in 2018 and 17 in 2019. Fourteen, which includes seven from the 2019 football squad, have been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence

Soccer (12):  *Catie Caruso, sophomore, Greendale, Wis.; *Kyla Gushard, sophomore, Lincoln, Neb.; *Taylor Kelley, sophomore, Sioux City, Iowa; *Lauren LaFavre, senior, Burnsville, Minn.; *Lily Frederickson, junior, Lino Lakes, Minn.; Lily McKown, senior, Independence, Minn.; Addison Reed, sophomore, Brookings, S.D.; McKayla Philippi, senior, Las Vegas, Nev.; *Lindsey Power, junior, Lindstrom, Minn.; *Erin O'Tool, senior, Clear Lake, Iowa; Becca Schmitz, senior, Rochester, Minn.; and Olivia Valdez, junior, Broomfield, Colo.
 
LaFavre, McKown, O'Tool were named to the team for the third time.  Philippi, Frederickson, Schmitz, and Valdez were second-time selections. The Soccer Team has had a total of 51 honorees since joining the league, including seven in 2012, six in 2013, one in 2014, six in 2016, seven in 2017 and a program-high 12 in 2018 as well as in 2019. Fourteen USF soccer student-athletes, which includes seven this year, have been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Volleyball (6): Three-time honorees include *Abby Feyereisen, senior, Minneapolis, Minn.; and KaSandra Springer, senior, Altoona, Wis. Other honorees include two-time honoree *Krista Goerger, sophomore, Mankato, Minn; and *Emily Decker, junior, Elkhart, Ind.; and first-time honoree TiaRose Nagami, sophomore, Pearl City, Hawaii. 

The Volleyball team has had 63 student-athletes earn academic all-league honors including six in 2012, six in 2013, eight in 2014, eight in 2015, 11 in 2016, eight in 2017, 10 in 2018 and six in 2019. Eleven USF volleyball student-athletes, which includes three in 2019, have been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.
