USF Track and Field has seven named USTFCCCA All-Region honorees

NEW ORLEANS –  Seven members of the University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Track Team have been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honorees for NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field in 2019, according to announcement today by the USTFCCCA.

A total of 1,612 student-athletes from 157 institutions earned All-Region honors nationwide with 801 honorees coming from the men's side and an additional 811 selections from women's teams.

The USF Men's Team, which finished third at the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships, have seven individuals honor including junior Zach Lundberg, who was named in four events including the 3,000 meter run (8:19.45, NSIC Indoor Championships), distance medley relay, mile run (4:07.76, SDSU Indoor Classic) and 5,000 meter run (14:18.98). Senior Mason Phillips was named all-region in the 5,000-meter run (14:17.27, Northwest Missouri State Mel Tjeerdsma Open), 800-meter run (1:50.92, SDSU Indoor Classic) and the distance medley relay. Senior Steven Brown was named All-Region in the 3,000-meter run (8:27.09, NSIC Indoor Championships). Seniors Billy Beseman and Trey Furgeson were selected all-region for the distance medley relay, which clocked a 10:01.83. The clocking, which occurred at the BHSU Stinger Invite, ranks as the seventh best in DII. Tristan Zawadzki also made all-region in the pole vault (5-09 meters, 16-8 1/4, NSIC Indoor Championships). Also sophomore Taryn Ceglowski of the USF Women's Team was all-region in the mile run (4:57.74, SDSU Indoor Classic). Ceglowski recently helped lead the USF Women's Track Team to a program-best sixth place finish at the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their event in their respective region. In addition, each member of a region's top-3 relay teams was also selected for the distinction. The eight regions used in NCAA DII are the Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.
