BROOKINGS – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Indoor Track and Field team won the St. Johns Invitational and the men's team finished fourth as the Cougars had many stand-out performances on the day. USF also sent some members of the team to the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings.
CSB/SJU Saturday results
USF Women's Track and Field Team took first in the St. Johns Invitational after totaling 146.0 points on the day. Gustavus Adolphus was second with 110.0 points. USF men's track and field team took fourth after accumulating 81 total points on the day. USF won six total events in the afternoon.
Junior Pole vaulter
Tristan Zawadzki highlighted the day for USF at the St. Johns Invitational on Saturday with a meet record result in the men's pole vault. Zawadzki took first in the pole vault with a meet record height of 5 meters (16' 4.75 feet). Senior
Connor DeJong finished just behind Zadwazki with a final jump of 4.58 meters (15' 0.25").

Joseph Kirkebak claimed first place in the men's high jump with a height of 1.97 meters (6' 5.5").
USF freshman
Casey Hackett won the men's long jump at 6.56 meters (21' 6.25"), and defeated the competition by a foot. Senior sprinter
Jacob Morse recorded a second place finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.53). Â

Christian Gruschin took second in the men's weight throw with a toss of 16.48 meters (54' 1"). Sophomore
Patrick Hagan was third at 16.48 meters (54' 1").
Senior
Chandler Nelson was sixth in the men's shot put after a toss of 14.18 meters (46' 6.25"). Gruschin recorded an eighth place finish with a 13.47 meter throw (44' 2.5") and Hagan was ninth with a 13.15 meter (43' 1.75") throw.
Freshman
Jayden Slaba was fifth in the men's 600-meter dash (1:28.53), while senior Salvador James took ninth with a 1:32.66 clocking.
The woman's 60-meter dash was all USF as the Cougars took the top four places with senior
Sarah Troescher finishing first in 7.70. Sophomore
Chloe Peterson was second (7.80), freshman Kenya Henderson was third (7.95) and sophomore
Mercy Oyadare claimed fourth (8.02).
Peterson took second in the women's 200-meter dash in 25.84 time. Oyadare finished just behind Peterson in third by clocking a 26.85.
Freshman
Carolyn Groeger was first in the woman's pole vault at 3.43 meters (11' 3"). Senior
Brenna Schmidt was fourth after recording a 3.13 (10' 3.25) meter jump.
Sophomore
Emma Hertz took first in the women's shot put after throwing 13.61m (44' 8"). Sophomore
Bailey Rudebusch was third after posting a 12.37 (40' 7").
USF took control of the women's long jump with
Chloe Peterson taking first (5.36 meters, 17' 7"), sophomore
Emily Olson was second (5.14 meters, 16' 10.5") and
Mahli Strasser was fifth (4.84 meters, 15' 10.75").
Freshman
Taylor Stoltz was fifth in the women's high jump after a final leap of 1.54 meters (5' 0.5").
Senior
Amber Cook took second in the woman's weight throw with a distance of 16.73 meters (54' 10.75"). Kayla Anderson was third (16.45 meters, 53' 11.75") and sophomore
Emma Hertz was fourth (16.08 meters, 52' 9.25 meters).
Sophomore
Emily Olson claimed third in the woman's 60-meter hurdles after posting a 9.28 result.

USF senior
Steven Brown took second in the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:38.32. Â Junior
Zach Lundberg gained eight points in the men's mile run with a second place clocking of 4:07.76. Â Sophomore distance runner
Taryn Ceglowski was fourth in the women's one mile run with a 4:57.74 clocking. Â
USF will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 15 as they will compete in the SDSU Last Chance Meet.Â
