PITTSBURG, Kan. - Closing out the NCAA Track & Field Championships, University of Sioux Falls student-athletes Emma Hertz and Zach Lundberg competed on Saturday. Hertz broke her own school record in the women's shot put and Lundberg placed 14th in the men's 3,000-meter run.
On day one of the NCAA Championships, USF's distance medley relay squad took fourth to earn All-American honors.
With her final throw of the prelims, Hertz earned a spot in the finals of the women's shot out and surpassed her own school record mark with a 15.17-meter (49 feet-9.25 inches) toss. In the finals, Hertz was unable to improve on her mark, but she earned second team All-American honors, the first All-American honor of her career.
Closing the national competition for USF, Lundberg took 14th in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:26.31. Lundberg fell two spots short of second team All-American honors but earned first team honors as the leadoff leg of USF's DMR squad on Friday night.
