SIOUX CITY, IOWA—
Zach Lundberg and
Taryn Ceglowski each record first place finishes as the University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Teams had a series of outstanding performances at the Sioux City Relays Saturday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa.
Men's team results
USF took the top three spots in the men's 1,500-meter run as junior
Zach Lundberg finished first in the event with a 3:59.87 clip.
Mason Phillips crossed the line just after Lundberg with a 3:59.91 showing, and teammate
Jase Kraft was third with a 4:01.39 clocking. Senior
Billy Beseman recorded a top-10 time of 4:04.42 as he finished ninth in the event.
USF controlled the men's 800-meter dash by placing three in the top-eight as Lundberg was second in 1:54.03. Beseman was fourth (1:54.97) and Kraft grabbed eighth (1:56.13).
Following his NCAA DII provisional mark during last week's USD Challenge (5.16-meters, 16' 11"),
Tristan Zawadzki hit another provisional height of J5.01-meters (16' 5.25") in the men's pole vault. University of South Dakota vaulter Nick Johnson also posted a height of 5.01-meters (16' 5.25"), but hit the mark with one less miss than Zawadzki so he took first.
Chandler Nelson took third in the men's discus with a NCAA DII provisional mark of 49.80-meters (151' 10"), which ties his mark that he previously set at the USD Challenge last weekend (April 6).
Patrick Hagan rounded out the top-10 with a 10th place throw of 42.11-meters (138' 2"). Also in the throws,
Christian Gruschin recorded a fourth place finish in the hammer throw at 52.66-meters (172' 9") where only division one throwers beat his mark. Hagan was sixth in the event with a 49.39-meter (162' 0") toss.
In the first event of the day, Josh Leister took second in the men's 3,000-meter steeple chase with a 9:56.98 clocking. He just edged out teammate
Nick Lawson who claimed third after a 10:01.58 showing.
Aaron Voigt placed ninth in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:53.05.
Women's team results
USF sophomore
Taryn Ceglowski finished first in the women's 1,500-meter run by clocking a 4:45.99. Ceglowski ran a preliminary run of 4:32.49, which is a NCAA DII provisional mark. Ceglowski also took third in the women's 800-meter dash with a 2:16.77 clocking.
Senior
Brenna Schmidt tied for fourth with teammate Marya Schiltz in the women's pole vault at 3.00-meters (9' 10.00"). Both vaulters hit the three-meter mark but failed to reach 3.15-meters.
The USF Track and Field Teams will next compete in the Northwestern College Red Raider Open on April 17-18.
