Ceglowski and Lundberg take individual titles as USF Track and Field wraps up Sioux City Relays

SIOUX CITY, IOWA— Zach Lundberg and Taryn Ceglowski each record first place finishes as the University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Teams had a series of outstanding performances at the Sioux City Relays Saturday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa.

Men's team results
USF took the top three spots in the men's 1,500-meter run as junior Zach Lundberg finished first in the event with a 3:59.87 clip. Mason Phillips crossed the line just after Lundberg with a 3:59.91 showing, and teammate Jase Kraft was third with a 4:01.39 clocking. Senior Billy Beseman recorded a top-10 time of 4:04.42 as he finished ninth in the event.

USF controlled the men's 800-meter dash by placing three in the top-eight as Lundberg was second in 1:54.03. Beseman was fourth (1:54.97) and Kraft grabbed eighth (1:56.13).

Following his NCAA DII provisional mark during last week's USD Challenge (5.16-meters, 16' 11"), Tristan Zawadzki hit another provisional height of J5.01-meters (16' 5.25") in the men's pole vault. University of South Dakota vaulter Nick Johnson also posted a height of 5.01-meters (16' 5.25"), but hit the mark with one less miss than Zawadzki so he took first.

Chandler Nelson took third in the men's discus with a NCAA DII provisional mark of 49.80-meters (151' 10"), which ties his mark that he previously set at the USD Challenge last weekend (April 6). Patrick Hagan rounded out the top-10 with a 10th place throw of 42.11-meters (138' 2"). Also in the throws, Christian Gruschin recorded a fourth place finish in the hammer throw at 52.66-meters (172' 9") where only division one throwers beat his mark. Hagan was sixth in the event with a 49.39-meter (162' 0") toss.

In the first event of the day, Josh Leister took second in the men's 3,000-meter steeple chase with a 9:56.98 clocking. He just edged out teammate Nick Lawson who claimed third after a 10:01.58 showing.

Aaron Voigt placed ninth in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:53.05.

Women's team results
USF sophomore Taryn Ceglowski finished first in the women's 1,500-meter run by clocking a 4:45.99. Ceglowski ran a preliminary run of 4:32.49, which is a NCAA DII provisional mark. Ceglowski also took third in the women's 800-meter dash with a 2:16.77 clocking.

Senior Brenna Schmidt tied for fourth with teammate Marya Schiltz in the women's pole vault at 3.00-meters (9' 10.00"). Both vaulters hit the three-meter mark but failed to reach 3.15-meters.

The USF Track and Field Teams will next compete in the Northwestern College Red Raider Open on April 17-18.
