KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – Juniors
Mason Phillips and
Zach Lundberg both earned second team All-American honors by placing 10th and 12th, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday (May 25) in the final day of the NCAA DII Track and Field Championships at Javelina Stadium.
Mason Phillips
Phillips, who qualified 6th at 3:55.64 in the prelims and earned his sixth track and field or cross country All American honor, ran ninth or 10th throughout the race as he finished at 4:00.66 but just five hundreds out of ninth (Lucas Taxter, Stonehill, 4:00.61) and and a little over a second from eighth (Shane Bracken, Saint Leo, 3:59.93). Phillips earned his first outdoor All-American honor. He opened with a 53:37 400 meters and ran 69.71 as he was at 2:02.98 after 800 meters. Then, he put together a 61.92 lap and closed in 55:26 as he placed 10th. In the final 800 meters, he had a 1:57.44.
Zach Lundberg
Lundberg, who owns USF's school record at 3:46.83 at the Bryan Clay Invite in April, had the third-best qualifying time at 3:55.38 on Thursday (May 23). On Saturday, he finished at 4:01.58 for 12th and earned second team All-American honors for a second straight year (10th, 2018). Lundberg, who earned his fifth track and field All-American honor and second outdoors, opened at 53:31 and was at 2:02.92 through 800 meters. With a 62:01 third lap, he was at 3:04.50 and sat in ninth place. He closed at 56:65 and finished 12th.

Miranda Phipps finished 20th in the javelin throw with a toss of 40.75 meters (133-08).
Sophomore
Emma Hertz of finished 19th in the shot put at 14.22 meters (46-08) today in Kingsville, Texas. Hertz also finished 22nd in the discus on Friday (May 24) as she threw 40.10 meters (131-07) at the DII Championships on Friday afternoon.
On Thursday (May 23), junior
Tristan Zawadzki, who was making his first appearance at the outdoor nationals, competed in the pole vault but didn't place.
