Cross Country sending partial squads to Lewis U Crossover and Defender Classic this weekend

SIOUX FALLS, SD – USF Cross Country will send partial squads to both the Lewis University Crossover Meet and the Defender Holiday Express Classic on Saturday October 9th. Lewis University will host the crossover at the Lewis Cross Country Course in Romeoville, Ill., while Dordt University will host the Defender Holiday Express Classic on their campus in Sioux Center, IA.
 
The Lewis University Crossover Meet will feature 28 teams from 16 states with eight men's teams nationally ranked or receiving votes plus 11 on the women's side. The women's 6k will begin at 9:45am followed by the men's 8k at 10:30am. To follow along, click here for live stats.The Dordt Holiday Express Classic on Saturday starts with the women's race at 10 am and the men's competition at 10:30 am. Fans may watch the Dordt Invite by clicking here. Final results will also be available and posted on www.usfcougars.com.
 
These will be USF Cross Country's final meets before the NSIC Championships on October 23rd. The Cougars have competed in three meets prior to the weekend.
 
Highlights from USF Cross Country's 2021 meets-
 
Augustana Twilight
  • Women - 5,000-meter race - Morgan Gehl – 9th, 18:42.5, | team took sixth place -195 points
  • Men - four-mile run - Ben Morrison - 21st,  20:24.06 | team took seventh place – 195 points, second best score for NSIC schools
 
SDSU Classic
  • Women - 5,000-meter race - Gehl – 8th, in 18:30.583 (personal record), four other USF Women's runners in top-25
  • Men - 8,000-meter race - Morrison – 13th, in 26:02.00, two other USF Men's runners in top-25
Roy Griak Invitational
  • Women - 6,000-meter race - Gehl – 8th, 22:47.2, third fastest ever by USF runner at the Griak | Khot Juac – 24th, 23:18.2 | team took 10th (among 27 teams) – 252 points
  • Men – 8,000-meter race - Aaron Voigt, 29th, 26:21.5 | Morrison, 37th 26:27.3 | David Ecker 49th, 26:43.2
