USF Indoor Track & Field Picks up Multiple Career Bests at SDSU Holiday Invite

BROOKINGS – The USF Track & Field team opened their season this weekend at the SDSU Holiday Invite held at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, SD. The men's team brought home a 7th place finish with 20 points as the women's team picked up a 9th place finish with 22.

TRACK EVENTS

·       Ben Mandel advanced into the finals for the men's 60 meter hurdles placing 5th with a time of 8.32.

·       Jakob Hanna picked up a career high in the men's 1 mile race with a time of 4:08.75 and a 2nd place finish.

·       Freshman, Tamia Horton, started her career off on a high note with a 3rd place finish (the highest NSIC finisher) in the women's 60 meter dash with a time of 7.84.

·       Denver Decker was the leading placer for USF in the 400 meter dash with a 14th place finish and a time of 53.30.

·       Nicholas Muller picked up a career best in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:04.9 and a 9th place finish.

·       Sierra Stanton picked up a career bests in the women's 300 meter dash with a time of 46.50 and a 12th place finish while Cody Lusting led the men with a 6th place finish and a time of 36.63.

·       Jessica Lutmer recorded a career best in the women's 3000 meter run with a 3rd place finish and a time of 10:28.12 while Ben Morrison also picked up a career best with a time of 8:38.17 and an 8th place finish.

·       Emily Swanson started the season off strong with a career best finish in the Women's Pentathlon collecting 3,568 points and a 1st place finish. She placed 3rd in the 60H, 1st in the HJ, 4th in the shot put and long jump and 2nd in the 800 meter dash.

FIELD EVENTS

·       Kamry Lindsey picked up an 11th place finish (out of 41) in the women's weight throw with a throw of 15.52 meters. Jaymeson Wolkow picked up a 12th place finish (out of 34) on the men's side with throw of 14.88 meters.

·       Dawson Davito led the men in the shot put with a throw of 13.78 meters and an 11th place finish (out of 34). Lindsey also led the Cougars in the women's shot put with a 10th place finish (out of 39) with a distance of 12.48 meters.

·       Mackenzie Bengtson picked up an 8th place finish (out of 26) in the women's discus throw with a distance of 39.53 meters while Wolkow led the men with a 10th place finish (out of 21) and a throw of 41.68 meters.

·       Dalton Goodwin jumped for 5.95 meters in the long jump today placing 15th (out of 23) picking up career bests in both the long jump and triple jump. Abbi Webb was the leading jumper for the women with a long jump of 5.29 meters and a 6th place finish (out of 30) securing her career bests in both the long and triple jumps.

·       Kenna Comstock was USFs leading pole vaulter with a height of 3.35 meters and an 8th place finish out of 15 jumpers.

·       Webb once again led the women in the high jump with a jump of 1.55 meters and a 7th place finish out of 17 jumpers.

·       Goodwin was the leading placer in the triple jump for the men with a jump of 12.98 meters and a 12th place finish (out of 17). Avery Bartunek led the women with a jump of 10.56 meters and a 10th place finish (out of 26).
