Cougars Start Strong in Day 1 of NSIC Championships

MANKATO – The USF Track & Field team traveled to Mankato, MN on Saturday to compete in Day 1 of the NSIC Championship Meet, held at Myers Field House. The women's team finished the day in 4th place with 17.50 points. The men's team is currently in 8th place with 14 points. 


TRACK EVENTS

·       The USF women's distance medley team (Juac, Gehl, Kenkel, and O'Meara) finished 3rd in the finals with a time of 11:52.73. This time is a NCAA provisional mark and also breaks the previous USF women's distance medley record by 11 seconds. 

·       Junior Cassidy O'Meara finished 7th in the women's 800 meter preliminary races with a time of 2:18.85. She will compete in the finals tomorrow. 

·       Junior Annika Aho finished 2nd in the women's 1000 meter preliminary races with a career best time of 3:03.40. Sophomore Gracie Bucher finished 9th with a time of 3:07.17. Aho will compete in the finals tomorrow. 

·       Sophomore Jessica Lutmer finished 4th in the women's 5000 meter run finals with a career best time of 17:42.84. 

·       Junior Emily Swanson finished 6th in the women's 60 meter hurdle preliminary races with a career best time of 8.86. She will compete in the finals tomorrow. 

·       Sophomore Joe Donahue finished 4th in the men's 60 meter dash preliminary races with a career best time of 6.49. He will compete in the finals tomorrow. 

·       Senior Jakob Hanna finished 3rd in the men's 1000 meter run preliminary races with a time of 2:30.64. Sophomore Caleb Rivera finished 4th with a time of 2:32.92. Both Hanna and Rivera will compete in the finals tomorrow.

·       Senior David Ecker finished 4th in the men's 5000 meter run finals with a time of 15:05.90.

·       Junior Ben Mandel finished 6th in the men's 60 meter hurdle preliminary races with a time of 8.27. Mandel will compete in the finals tomorrow. 

·       The USF men's distance medley team finished 6th in the finals with a 10:16.46.


FIELD EVENTS

·       Sophomore Tyler Hiatt placed 3rd in the men's weight throw finals with a career best throw of 18.52 meters. Hiatt's throw hits the NCAA provisional mark and sets a new USF school record.

·       Sophomore Kamry Lindsey finished 6th in the women's weight throw finals with a throw of 16.72 meters. 

·       Junior Kenna Comstock finished 6th in the women's pole vault finals with a height of 3.41 meters.
