Ecker and Baumberger Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Sioux Falls track & field team is sending two athletes to the 2023 NCAA DII Track & Field Championships held in Pueblo, Colorado next weekend. David Ecker will compete in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase while Olivia Baumberger will compete in the women's javelin throw.

Ecker qualified in the steeplechase with a time of 8:55.86 that he set at the Bryan Clay Invitational earlier this spring which also earned him the No.1 spot in the USF record books. The prelims will take place on Thursday, May 25 at 8:10 p.m. (MST) with the finals for the event taking place on Friday, May 26 at 8:30 p.m. (MST).

Baumberger, who currently sits third in the nation in the javelin, recorded a career best as well as a school record at the Drake Relays earlier this spring. With a throw of 48.38 meters, she currently holds the No. 2 spot on the performance list released earlier today. Baumberger will compete on Saturday, May 27 at 12:30 p.m. (MST).

A total of 754 participants will be participating in this year's championship event. The championships will be held May 25-27 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl and hosted by Colorado State University, Pueblo. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
