PUEBLO – Olivia Baumberger competed this afternoon in the women's javelin throw at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Meet held at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The NCAA Championship Meet consisted of 21 women's javelin athletes. Baumberger, a sophomore, placed second in the nation. Her throw of 48.34 was over seven meters further than the third place finisher, and just two meters away from first place. Baumberger's distance is just four centimeters shy of the school record, and personal best, she threw in April. 

During the 2023 outdoor season Baumberger recorded seven top ten finishes. At the Drake Relays, Baumberger finished second with a throw of 48.38, breaking the USF school record that had been standing since 2019. At the NSIC Outdoor Championships she placed second with a throw of 41.59. Baumberger was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team for the javelin throw.
