NEW ORLEANS, LA. – University of Sioux Falls track & field sophomore, Olivia Baumberger, has been named to the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field All-American First Team for her performance in the javelin throw this past season.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced All-American honors earlier today with Baumberger picking up her first career honor. Student-athletes earned First-Team USTFCCCA All-American honors by virtue of finishing among the top-eight in their respective events – including as a member of a relay team – at the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Pueblo, Colorado.
Baumberger is one of 52 All-Americans from the NSIC and just one of 32 female athletes to earn first team honors. This season Baumberger recorded seven top-10 finishes including her runner-up finish at the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. At the Drake Relays, Baumberger finished second with a throw of 48.38, breaking the USF school record that had been standing since 2019. At the NSIC Outdoor Championships she placed second with a throw of 41.59. Baumberger was also named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team this season for the javelin throw.
