Cougar Wrestling Sweeps the Jet Duals with Wins Over (RV) Drury and (RV) Ouachita Baptist

WICHITA, KAN. – USF Men's Wrestling recorded their first dual sweep of the NCAA DII era with wins over (RV) Drury and (RV) Ouachita Baptist. The Cougars defeated the Panthers 21-18 before defeating the Tigers 24-17 to advance to 5-7 on the season. 

(RV) SIOUX FALLS VS (RV) DRURY – W, 21-18 

At 125-pounds, Daniel Parra Jr. fell to Bryson Humphries in a 3:49, 17-0 tech fall. Parra Jr. moves to 1-7 on the season and 0-5 in dual matchups.  

#8/12 Beau Klingensmith took on Kyshin Isringhausen at 133-pounds. Controlling the match, Klingensmith took the 13-2 major decision victory and advanced to 10-1 on the season with a dual record of 7-0. 

At 141-pounds, #18 Jordon Oehme took on Nathan Wishne. With over a minute in ride time, and the match knotted up at three apiece, Oehme sent the match to overtime before sealing the deal with a 6-3 sudden victory decision to advance to 10-6 on the year and 6-5 in dual matchups. 

At 149-pounds, Lane Fink fell to Trevor Christian in a 10-3 decision falling to 11-12 on the season and 2-8 in dual matchups. 

Lincoln Fink took on Joe Kuster at 157-pounds. After a takedown and a few reversals, Lincoln took a 5-2 lead before landing a 4-point nearfall to close out the first period with a commanding 9-2 lead. Continuing his success in the second and third periods, Lincoln secured the 15-3 major decision advancing to 12-11 on the season and 4-7 in dual settings. 

Cooper Sanders fell to #13 Will Kuster at 165-pounds in a 4:56 pin.  Sanders moves to 13-10 on the season and 4-7 in dual matchups. 

At 174-pounds, Grant Moraski took on Jeremiah Halter. Moraski picked up the first takedown at the end of the first period to take a 3-0 lead before opening the second period up with an early escape for a 4-0 lead. After giving up a takedown in the second, Moraski road out the second period to pick up riding time points for the 5-3 decision. Moraski advances to 8-9 on the season and 4-5 in dual matchups. 

Daevon Vereen took on Nathan Brower at 184-pounds. Despite falling behind in the first period, 12-0, Vereen landed five takedowns the next two periods along with a 4-point nearfall, ride time and three stalling points to take a 23-16 decision victory. Vereen is now 8-5 on the year and 3-3 in duals. 

At 197-pounds, Stetson Davis took on Wade Stanton falling in a 10-1 major decision. Stetson moves to 5-12 on the year and 1-9 in dual settings. 

To close out dual one, Isaiah Laguna took on Jaxon Glenn at 285-pounds. Laguna closed out the first period with a takedown and a 3-0 lead before starting the second period with an escape. With another takedown midway through the second, Laguna continued into the third with another takedown and ride time to secure the 11-0 major decision to advance to 12-8 on the season and 5-6 in dual settings. 

(RV) SIOUX FALLS VS (RV) OUACHITA BAPTIST – W, 24-17 

Starting dual two, Parra Jr. took on Justin Shaw falling in an 8-1 decision. Following his second match of the day, Parra Jr. Moves to 1-8 on the season and 0-6 in dual settings while going 0-2 on the day. 

#8/12 Klingensmith opened up the 133-pound match against Shad Cano. With six first period takedowns and an 18-5 lead, Klingensmith closed the match out with a quick takedown and a 3:20, 21-6 tech fall to advance to 11-1 on the season and 8-0 in dual matchups while going 2-0 on the day. 

At 141-pounds, #18 Oehme took on Brayden Cash in a 6:01, 17-2 tech fall win. Oeheme opened the match with a takedown in the first followed by an escape and two takedowns in the second for a 13-1 lead. With a takedown, ride time and a 4-point nearfall in the third for the win, Oehme is now 11-6 on the year and 7-5 in dual settings while going 2-0 on the day. 

Sir Brandon Watts took on Caleb Andrews at 149-pounds falling in a 6-2 decision. Watts moves to 3-3 on the year and 0-1 in dual matchups going 0-1 on the day. 

Lincoln Fink fell to Jaylon Otero at 157-pounds falling in a 17-5 major decision. Lincoln moves to 12-12 on the season and 4-8 in duals while going 1-1 on the day. 

At 165-pounds, Sanders took on Jack Golowenski. With just a 3-0 lead to end the first, Sandars added an escape, two 4-point nearfalls and three more takedowns to secure the 6:23, 21-2 tech fall and move to 14-10 on the year and 5-7 in dual settings going 1-1 on the day. 

Moraski took on Luke Brooks at 174-pounds opening the match with a takedown and a 4-point nearfall for an early 7-2 lead. Moraski added another two takedowns and ride time to secure a 14-7 decision and advance to 9-9 on the year and 5-5 in dual matchups while going 2-0 on the day. 

At 184-pounds, Vereen took on William Wilson while opening his match with a takedown and a 4-point near fall before sealing the deal with a 2:48 pin to advance to 9-5 on the season and 4-3 in dual settings all while going 2-0 on the day. 

Stetson Davis fell to Parker Henry at 197-pounds in an 8-0 major decision and moves to 5-13 on the year and 1-10 in duals while going 0-2 on the day. 

Laguna took on Torin Forsyth at 285-pounds falling in a 7-4 decision and moving to 12-9 on the year and 5-7 in dual matchups going 1-1 on the day.
