SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sioux Falls (8-17, 4-7 NSIC) split Saturday's doubleheader against St. Cloud State (11-10, 7-4 NSIC) at Sioux Falls Stadium. The Cougars claimed a 3-1 win in Game 1 behind stellar pitching but fell 10-5 in Game 2 after a big sixth inning from the Huskies.
How it Happened
Game 1 – Sioux Falls 3, St. Cloud State 1
Sioux Falls struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Dominic Vogel singled and came around to score on Jaxon Haase's RBI single to left field.
St. Cloud State answered in the second when Wilmis Castro walked, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.
The Cougars reclaimed the lead in the third. Vogel led off with a single and moved to third on a hit from Mitch Iliff. With two outs, Isaac Bonner reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Vogel to score. William Edwards followed with an RBI single up the middle, extending the lead to 3-1.
The USF pitching staff took over from there. Dylan Immel (1-1) tossed 4.2 scoreless innings in relief, allowing just three hits while striking out two. Eli Larson closed the door in the seventh, striking out the final batter to earn his first save of the season.

Game 2 – St. Cloud State 10, Sioux Falls 5
Sioux Falls got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the third on Myles Rees' solo home run to left field. The Cougars added another in the fourth when William Edwards knocked an RBI single to drive in Mitch Iliff for a 2-0 lead.
After St. Cloud cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth, the Cougars answered again. Nolan Drossel doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Dominic Vogel, making it 3-1 USF.
The Huskies took control in the sixth with a six-run inning, fueled by a three-run error, a two-run homer from Brayden Jacobson, and a pair of RBI singles, flipping the score to 7-3 St. Cloud.
Sioux Falls fought back in the bottom half, scoring twice on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a groundout to close the gap to 7-5, but St. Cloud responded with three more runs in the seventh to seal the win.
