MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Sioux Falls (4-14, 0-4 NSIC) wrapped up its opening conference series against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, dropping both games of the doubleheader. The Cougars fell in a 10-9 thriller in Game 1 before a late rally came up short in a 7-4 loss in Game 2.
How It Happened
Game 1 – Sioux Falls 9, Minnesota Duluth 10
In a back-and-forth battle, USF put up nine runs on 14 hits, but a sixth-inning UMD rally proved to be the difference.
USF jumped ahead with a four-run second inning, highlighted by a Jackson Yeager's home run, a two-run double from Noah Christenson and an RBI single from Dominic Vogel. The Bulldogs responded with three in the bottom half of the third inning and took a 7-4 lead.
Trailing 9-7 in the sixth, the Cougars tied it again behind a two-run single from Christenson, but UMD regained the lead with an RBI double in the bottom half. USF put three runners on in the seventh but couldn't bring them home.

Game 2 – Sioux Falls 4, Minnesota Duluth 7
USF fell behind in the sixth but made a late push, scoring four runs in the seventh, before ultimately dropping the series finale.
The game was scoreless through five innings as Jake Pruchniak kept the Bulldogs off the board, but UMD broke through with a seven-run sixth inning. The Cougars responded in the seventh. Isaac Bonner had an RBI single followed by Frank Vogel's two-run double. Christenson added an RBI single in the inning, but the rally ended there.
