How things stand with six games to play
With six games to play in the regular season, USF faces U-Mary, which comes in dropping 4-of-6 games. However two weeks ago the Marauders won a pair of road games at Bemidji State  (88-80 OT) and Minnesota Crookston, 66-64.  U-Mary is led by 6-3 junior guard Keith Hunter, who averages 15.2 ppg and put up 30 points in the 71-62 loss to Winona State on Saturday. Trevor Zacher also scores in double digits for the Marauders at 11.5 ppg.

Minot State, which dropped home games last weekend to Winona State, 70-65, and Upper Iowa, 99-88, sits third in the NSIC North. The Beavers feature one of the league's top players in Tyler Rudolph, a 6-8 forward, who is averaging  21.8 ppg (2nd, NSIC) and 7.2 rebounds (6th, NSIC). Minot State also features one of the league's top point guards in Luis Ricci Maia, who provides 12.5 ppg and 6.4 assists, which is second in the NSIC. The Beavers rank fifth in the league in scoring at 79.5 ppg and are pesky on defense, allowing 70.5 ppg for third in the NSIC. Hall in Moorhead.

As for USF, the Cougars return to the friendly confines of the Stewart Center after a a 2-2 road trip, including a dramatic 70-67 win over MSU Moorhead when NSIC Player of the Week Trevon Evans hit a three-pointer with less than a second to play. Evans, who also had 42 points in a loss at #12 Northern State, had 29 points, 10 rebounds and five assists against MSUM. With the victory over the Dragons, USF is 9-7 in league play, a game ahead of fifth place Augustana at 8-8. USF is just a game back of Winona State at 10-6 for third.  USF, which is 8-2 at home, and plays four of its final six games at the Stewart Center, is trying to earn its first NSIC Tournament home game with a top four finish in the South. However by league rules, if a team from either the North or South in fifth place has a better league record that the team in fourth in the opposite division, they would also earn home game if they had not lost to that team during the season.
