Miranda Phipps recorded an NCAA DII provisional mark in women's javelin throw,
Emma Hertz hit a provisional mark in both the shot put and discus throw,
Christian Gruschin posted a provisional result in the men's hammer throw and
Jaimie McNamee hit a provisional distance in the women's hammer throw to highlight the University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Teams performances at the University of South Dakota Twilight Meet on Tuesday evening in Vermillion.
These four athletes also set new school records as Phipps hit a program best 46.51-meter (152' 7") throw in the women's javelin throw and Hertz broke her old school record in the shot put with a toss of 15.56-meters (51' 0.75"). McNamee broke the women's hammer throw record, which was just broke by senior
Amber Cook last weekend (April 20) at the Red Raider Open (51.80-meters, 169' 11"), with a 52.84-meter (173' 3") mark and Gruschin hit a school record result in the men's hammer throw after posting a 55.77-meter (183' 0") toss.
Women's team results
Phipps finished first in the women's javelin throw with a NCAA DII provisional mark of 46.51-meters (152' 7"). Phipps now ranks eighth in the country and first in the NSIC with this distance. Also in the event,
Bailey Rudebusch was fifth with a 31.53-meter (103' 5") throw.
In the women's discus, Hertz took first overall with a provisional mark of 48.37-meters (158' 8") while McNamee placed fifth with a 43.42-meter (142' 5") mark and Kayla Anderson was eighth with a 41.14-meter (135' 0") throw. Hertz also took first in the shot put with her school record toss of 15.56-meters (51' 0.75").
Rudebusch also claimed runner-up in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 45.87-meters (150' 6"). Teammate
Kourtney Rozeboom placed ninth in the event with a 37.59-meter (123' 4") throw.
The USF 4X400 relay 'C' squad of
Mercy Oyadare,
Zoe Cigard,
Jasmine Harris and
Emily Olson took second in the event with a 4:17.26 showing while the 'A' team of
Tianna Wald,
Sadie Thompson, Kelley Mattisen and
Maria Streed posted a third place result of 4:20.96.
In the women's 100-meter dash, Oyadare took second with a 12.65 clip while teammate
Jasmine Harris was sixth after a 13.19 showing and
Mahli Strasser rounded out the top-10 with a time of 13.38.
Oyadare also claimed third in the women's 200-meter dash with a clocking of 26.27 and
Lexi Frank placed 10
th after a 27.91 result.
In the women's discus throw,
Kourtney Rozeboom took third in the women's discus throw with a distance of 36.57-meters (119' 11") while teammate MacKenzie Bengston was fifth after a 36.24-meter (118' 10") throw.
Taylor Stoltz was third in the women's high jump after clearing a 1.55-meter (5' 1") bar height.
In the women's 1,500-meter run,
Sarina Lindell claimed fourth with a 5:03.12 clocking while teammate Streed placed fifth after a 5:06.10 result. A trio of runners from USD took the top three spots in the event.
In the women's pole vault,
Marya Schlitz took fourth at 3.20-meters (10' 6") while senior
Brenna Schmidt placed seventh after a 2.90-meter (9' 6.25") leap.
Clara Paul claimed sixth in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.14-meters (16' 10.5"), while teammate Strasser took seventh (5.03-meter, 16' 6") and Clara Leverich finished eighth (4.28-meter, 14' 0.5").
Emily Olson was the only DII athlete to compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles and took seventh with a time of 15.21.
In the women's 400-meter dash, Cigard was eighth with a 1:04.50 clocking while teammate
Taylor Kruger was ninth with a time of 1:07.06.
Tianna Wald captured eighth place in the women's 800-meter dash with a 2:24.85 clocking.
Men's team results
USF sprinter
Jacob Morse won the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.14. Morse beat USD's Dennis Parsley (15.19) by .05 seconds.
Morse then ran the men's 200-meter dash in 23.80, which was good for third place.
Ethan Holm posted a sixth place result of 24.83 in the event. In the men's 100-meter dash,
Jonathan Rowe claimed third in 11.49.
USF thrower
Christian Gruschin took second in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 55.77-meters (182.11) Minnesota State thrower Connor McCormick just edged out Gruschin for first place with a throw of 58.37-meters (191' 6").
In the men's 400-meter dash,
Trey Furgeson claimed second with a time of 49.24. Teammate
Jayden Slaba placed fourth with a 52.46 showing.
Logan Hansen placed second in the men's 1,500-meter run with a 4:00.57 clocking while
David Ecker was eighth after a 4:09.54 showing and
Aaron Voigt rounded out the top-10 with a 4:10.85 clip.
Freshman
Casey Hackett finished runner up in the men's long jump with at 6.52-meters (21' 4.75").
Thomas Chapin placed fourth in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 46.43-meters (152' 4").
In the men's pole vault, senior
Connor DeJong took fourth at 4.60-meters (15' 1") while
Jake Persen was sixth after a 4.15-meter (13' 7.25") vault.
Joseph Kirkebak posted a fifth place result in the men's high jump with a 1.95-meter (6' 4.75") height.
In the men's shot put,
Chandler Nelson took sixth after a final throw of 14.83-meters (48' 7.75").
USF will next compete in the Drake Relays which begin tomorrow (April 24) and will conclude on Saturday, April 27 in Des Moines, Iowa.
