USF Track and Field sets two school records and put together strong first day effort at Howard Wood Dakota Relays

  SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Track and Field Team set a couple of school records and had 11 top-five performers to highlight a strong day one performance at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays which opened Friday at Howard Wood Stadium.

USF sets school marks in women's 4x100 meter relay and 3K steeplechase
USF Women's 4x100 meter relay squad finished third with a school record mark of 47.07. The relay squad included freshman Kanya Henderson, junior Sarah Troescher, sophomore Mercy Oyadare and sophomore Chloe Peterson.

In the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase, Rebecca Goertzen set a school record in 11:28.09 and was 12th overall.

Sophomore Taryn Ceglowski took sixth in the 800-meter run by clocking a 2:15.00. In the same race, Sophomore Sadie Thompson was 18th in 2:22.17 while sophomore Tianna Wald was 21st in 2:23.94. Also for USF, freshman Maria Streed was 24th, 2:27.22; senior Mattisen Kelley, 25th, 2:30.25; senior Keegan Day, 26th, 2:31.60; freshman Hannah Ebert, 32nd, 2:39.93.

Emma Hertz continued to shine in the throws as she finished second in the discus. She threw the instrument 49.64 meters (162-10 ¼). Also for USF, junior Jaimie McNamee was fifth at 45.36 meters (148-10) with Bailey Rudebusch 11th at 39.27 meters (128-10). Other USF results included: MacKenzie Bengtson, 20th, 34.74 (114-00); Kourtney Rozeboom, 24th, 33.84 (111-00); Kayla Andersen, 25th, 33.32 (109-04); and Ally Welch, 27th, 26.65 meters (87-05).

In the hammer throw, USF placed four in the top 10. Jaimie McNamee was third at 50.77 meters (166-07); while Amber Cook was fifth at 49.72 meters (163-01) and Bailey Rudebusch was eighth at 44.63 meters (146-05) and Hertz, 10th at 44.36 meters (145-06). Other USF results included Kayla Andersen, 11th, 44.18 meters (144-11); Kourtney Rozeboom, 19th, 37.14 meters (121-10); Carla Walquist, 20th, 36.84 (120-10); MacKenzie Bengtson, 25th, 34.00 meters (111-06); and Ally Welch, 27th, 27.94 (91-08).

In the high jump, freshman Taylor Stoltz was seventh at 1.50 meters (4-11).

Furgeson and Beseman post top four finishes in races
The USF Men's Team had several top-five performers which included a third place result from Trey Furgeson in the 400 meter dash as he clocked a 48.84.

In the 800 meter run, Billy Beseman was fourth in 1:52.83. Sophomore Logan Hansen was 14th in 1:55.51 with Jase Kraft, 17th, in 1:56.97 and junior Blake Johnston, 34th at 2:06.59.

In the discus, Chandler Nelson was fourth at 48.81 meters (160-02); with Christian Gruschin, 11th, 46.38 meters (152-02).

The Cougars placed four runners in the top nine of the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Dan Armstrong, was fourth in 9:42.13. Also for USF, Nick Lawson finished fifth, 9:42.29 with Josh Liester, eighth, 9:47.26; Aaron Voigt, ninth, 9:47.50; and Edwin Iraheta, 15th, 11:20.95.
