BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Sixty-seven student-athletes from the University of Sioux Falls have earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Winter All-Academic honors, as announced today (Thursday, March 19) by the league office. Of that total, 37 USF student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence (3.6 GPA).
NSIC announced that 689 student-athletes have earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2019-20 winter athletic season; 400 student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, while 292 earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors. To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
During the eight years in the NSIC, USF has had 412 Academic All-NSIC honorees from winter sports programs. Those totals include Women's Indoor Track and Field, 150; Men's Indoor Track and Field, 135; Women's Basketball, 56; Women's Swimming, 31; and Men's Basketball, 40. Overall, USF has had 1,165 student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC since joining the league in 2012. USF honorees include (NSIC Academic Team of Excellence honorees marked with asterisk*).
