NEW ORLEANS – Emma Hertz, a junior on the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Team, was named Sunday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) among those who earned All-America honors for the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season.
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 12th individually or on a relay team that finished ninth or 10th were named Second-Team All-America. Hertz was seventh in the weight throw and eighth in the shot put to earn first team USTFCCA All-American honors. For the full list of All-Americans, click here.

Hertz, now a four-time NCAA DII All-American who prepped at Sioux Falls
O'Gorman, registered a throw of 47-5 ¼ (14.46M) in the shot put at the NCAA Championships on Friday to earn an eighth place finish. On Thursday, Hertz placed seventh in the weight throw with a school record mark of 62-1 ¼, which broke her throw of 61-11 or 18.87 meters, which was set at the Minnesota State Quad on Feb. 12, 2021 when she broke school records in both the shot put (52-2) and the weight throw. With her performances on March 11-12, she gave USF three total team points.
As a result, Hertz made history as the first USF thrower to earn First Team USTFCCA All-American in both the weight throw (7
th place) and shot put (8
th place) in the program's DII history.

NSIC title in the shot put on Feb. 27 at Mankato, Minn., has won 14 shot put titles and two weight throw titles indoors. Overall, indoors and outdoors, she has 47 top-eight finishes in the throws with 19 total titles and 29 placements of either first or second.
