BURNSVILLE, MINN. –
Emma Hertz of the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Team, who won five titles, had five NCAA DII provisional marks plus six top-10 program all-time marks in competition at the USF Twilight and Northern State Spring Open on April 21 and April 24, has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Field Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Monday, April 26.

Hertz has earned the NSIC Field Athlete of the Week award four times in her career, including the third time this year. Along with today (April 19), Hertz was honored with the Indoor Field Athlete honor on Jan. 19, 2021 and earned her outdoor honors on April 12, and May 6, 2019.
A four-time All-American, Hertz had a dominant week at the USF Twlight at the University of South Dakota on April 21, and at the Northern State Spring Open. At NSU, she won the shot put, discus and hammer events with DII provisional marks in each. Hertz won the shot put with a toss of 15.20m – 49-10.50w which ranks as her second best throw of the outdoor season and in the top four all-time at USF. It ranks as the second best throw in the NSIC this season and fifth in DII behind her top toss of 50-8.25 (SD Challenge), which is 2nd nationally.
In addition, Hertz won the discus in 51.42 meters – 168-0, which is a DII provisional mark and the second best throw of her career, ranking second all-time at USF. In her best throw of the season, Hertz now has the top discus throw in the NSIC and the toss ranks 5th in NCAA DII. Hertz also captured the hammer throw in 51.67m -169-06 which was a top 10 throw in program history.
At the USF Twilight, Hertz won both the discus and shot put with NCAA DII provisional marks. She won the discus with a throw of 49.72m-163-01.75 which ranks fourth all-time at USF and is her third best throw outdoors this season. She also had an NCAA DII provisional mark in winning the shot put at 14.95m – 49-00.75, which is her third best throw outdoors in 2021. In addition, Hertz was second in the hammer throw at 52.28m - 171-06.25, which was another DII provisional mark and her throw fourth all-time at USF.
During her stellar career, Hertz has collected 30 titles indoor and outdoor with 10 indoor shot put titles in 2021. She won the 2021 NSIC Indoor shot put crown. She has 46 top-13 finishes in the throws. In the indoor/outdoor meets this season, she has a total of 17 titles with 21 top-three finishes.
Hertz and her USF teammates will compete at the Wayne State Wildcat Challenge on May 1 in Wayne, Neb.
