Cougars Finish NSIC Outdoor Championships with Multiple Career Bests

ST. PAUL, MINN.  The Sioux Falls Track & Field team competed in the final day of the NSIC Outdoor Championships held at Concordia St. Paul's Sea Foam Stadium. The men's team finished the 2023 outdoor championships in sixth place with 67 points while the women's team finished fifth with 61 teams.


TRACK EVENTS

·      The women's 4x100 team made up of Tamia Horton, Grace Gioffredi, Myah Roggenbuck and Natalie Meyers placed fifth with a time of 47.88

·      Khot Juac placed second in the women's 1500 meter with a personal best and school record with a time of 4:25.97 followed by another personal best by Morgan Gehl in fourth with a time of 4:30.74.

·      In the men's 1500 meter, Jakob Hanna picked up fourth place with a time of 3:51.36 with Caleb Rivera just behind him in sixth place and a career best with a final time of 3:53.20.

·      Tamia Horton finished the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 12.06 and a seventh place finish after she set a person best in the prelims with a time of 12.02.

·      Cassidy O'Meara tabbed career best and a second place finish in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.33.

·      Ben Morrison placed sixth in the men's 800 meter run with a sixth place finish and a career best with a time of 1:54.36.

·      Khot Juac finished the women's 5000 meter run with a time of 16:53.42 and a third place finish.

·      In the men's 5000 meter run, Aaron Voigt finished in seventh place with a time of 14:45.90 which is a career best for Voigt.

·      Holly Mayers, Anniko Aho, Morgan Gehl and Cassidy O'Meara competed for a 10th place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:04.18.

·      In the men's 4x400 relay, Denver Decker, Collin Dingsor, Ben Morrison and Zach Matzner finished 10th with a time of 3:25.79.

 

FIELD EVENTS

·       With a throw of 50.66 meters, Tyler Hiatt picked up a second place finish in the men's discus throw. Hiatt earned NSIC High Pointer performer recognition with 26 points on the week following a first place finish in the shot put and two second place finished in the discus and hammer throw.

·       Kamry Lindsey also picked up a second place finish in the women's discus with a throw of 44.19 meters. Mackenzie Bengtson followed suit with a seventh place finish and a throw of 41.56 meters.

·       Denver Decker and Marek Rex both placed with in the top-10 of the men's javelin while Decker placed fourth and Rex 10th. Decker threw for 47.94 meters while Rex had a 42.55 meter toss.

·       Olivia Baumberger and Davis Guetterman also placed within the top-10 in the women's javelin throw. Baumberger, who recently set the school record in the javelin throw, placed second with a toss of 41.59 meters. Guetterman placed ninth with a toss of 33.58 meters.

·       Samuel Olson rounded out the day with a seventh place finish in the men's pole vault with a jump of 4.25 meters.

UP NEXT
The NCAA will release the entire field for the NCAA Championships on Tuesday, May 16 where the Cougars will find out who is headed to Pueblo, Colorado to compete in the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
