USF Track & Field edged 183-182 in inaugural Greeno-Butler Dual

SIOUX FALLS – Honoring the legendary coaches that helped build the programs that competed on Friday evening, University of Sioux Falls and Augustana squared off in the inaugural Rich Green-Vance Butler Dual at the Lillibridge Track & Field Complex. Combined between the men's and women's scores, Augustana edged host USF 183-182 for the title. The top two finishers of each team scored with team points awarded as 5-3-2-1 for the top four times/marks. The 4x100-meter relays were scored as five points for the winner and three points for the runner up.
 
In their first competition of the season, the Cougars won 17 events on the day and posted numerous top-10 times in program history. The Cougars recorded seven provisional qualifying marks, including six in the pole vault.
 
Coming off her indoor national championship, Courtney Crandall won the women's pole vault with a 3.96-meter (12-11.75) clearance, which ranks third in NCAA Division II this season and is just four centimeters from an automatic qualifying mark. Hannah Linder and Josie Spitz both cleared 3.66m (12-0.00), which reached the provisional qualifying standard.
 
USF's three men's pole vaulters who each earned first-team All-American honors during the indoor season led the way on Friday. All three cleared 4.86 meters (15-11.25), good enough for a provisiona qualifying mark, with Jacob Zebedee taking the top honors based on misses and Scott Greenman and Jagger Gran tied for second.
 
Jada Carr set a new personal best in the women's long jump and also reached the provisional standard. Carr's best mark from Friday was 5.88 meters (19-3.50), which is tied for 11th in Division II this year.
 
Carr logged two first-place finishes with the top 100-meter dash time (12.08 seconds) and as a member of the winning 4x100-meter relay team along with Sarah Troescher, Jessica Justin and Maggie Rauh in 49.67 seconds.
 
Teddy Frid captured three titles on Friday, winning the men's 110-mter hurdles (14.17 seconds), the men's high jump (1.90m/6-2.75), and javelin (45.68m/149-10). Jaimie McNamee won two events for the Cougars, taking the women's shot put (12.32m/40-5.00) and discus (45.15m/148-1) titles.
