Lundberg, Phillips and Beseman hit provisional marks as USF Track and Field competes in the Bryan Clay Invite and Red Raider Open

ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Zach Lundberg, Mason Phillips and Billy Beseman ran NCAA DII provisional qualifying times at the Bryan Clay Invite while Jake Person and Miranda Phipps claimed titles in their individual events as the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Team wraps up day one of the Red Raider Open.

At the Bryan Clay Invite, Lundberg took 53rd overall in the men's 1,500-meter dash with a NCAA DII provisional time of 3:46.64, which ranks him 10th in the country and first in the NSIC. Teammate Phillips ran a 3:49.04 clocking in the event, which also is a NCAA DII provisional time and ranks him 18th in the country and second in the NSIC. Senior Beseman took 96th with another provisional post of 3:50.29. Beseman ranks 23rd in the country and third in the NSIC.

Also at the Bryan Clay Invite, Sarah Troescher ran a 12.19 in the women's 100-meter dash and a 25.44 in the women's 200-meter dash. 

Men's team highlights- Red Raider Invite
Freshman Jake Persen captured the men's pole vault with a 3.58-meter (12' 7.50") mark. He beat Anton Henjna of Dakota State (3.55-meter, 11' 7.75") by a full foot.

In the men's javelin, freshman Thomas Chapman placed fourth with a distance of 50.73-meters (166' 05").

Junior Dan Armstrong claimed fifth in the men's 1,000 meter run with a 33:11.11 clocking. Freshman Shodo Mahamed was eighth in the event after posting a 34:15.72 clip while freshman Wyatt Schlager rounded out the top-10 with a time of 34:27.62.

In the men's 5,000 meter run, senior Nick Lawson claimed sixth in 16:21.89.

Junior thrower Christian Gruschin took eighth in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 50.09-meters (146' 04").

Women's team highlights- Red Raider Invite
Junior Miranda Phipps placed first in the women's javelin throw after recording a distance of 39.46-meters (129' 05").

Senior Amber Cook hit a new USF program record in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 51.80-meters (169' 11") which was good for second overall. Cook's throw ranks 33rd in the country and fourth in the NSIC. Teammate Jaimie McNamee finished just behind Cook in third with a throw of 49.85-meters (163' 06"). Emma Hertz was fifth in the event with a 49.46-meter (162' 03") toss and Kayla Anderson posted a sixth place result of 47.81-meters (156' 10").

In the women's pole vault, freshman Marya Schiltz and senior Brenna Schmidt both hit the 3.05 mark which was good for second place. Since Schiltz made the jump in less attempts than Schmidt, Schiltz took second while Schmidt took third.
