USF Athletics has program-high 96 student-athletes named to the Spring NSIC All-Academic Team

USF also had 48 student-athletes named to the NSIC Academic Team of Excellence

BURNSVILLE, MINN. – A program-best 96 University of Sioux Falls student-athletes have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2020 spring season, according to an announcement today from the league office.

The 96 student-athletes honored represents the most during spring period in USF's DII era. In addition, USF also had a program-high 48 student-athletes named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. With that total for the spring sports, USF had a total of 215 honored in 2019-20. In addition, USF has had 1,213 student-athletes named academic all-league since joining the league in 2012.

In an announcement on April 21, the NSIC unveiled the names of 458 student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC and another 372 selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for GPAs of 3.6 or better. In total, the NSIC announced that 830 student-athletes have been named Academic All-League in 2019-20. 

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. *All-Academic Team of Excellence Members.

"We are extraordinarily pleased and proud of our student-athletes who were honored this spring and all year long," said USF Director of Athletics Pam Gohl. "USF student-athletes excel at a high level in competition and the classroom while also fulfilling a mission in community service. We are exceptionally pleased with their dedication to their respective sports and their commitment to studies," she said.

Boryca, Rysavy, and Roskowiak earned academic honors for a third time. Meyer, Olson, Graham, Reese, Robinson were named for a second time.

Livingston, Boryca, Rysavy, Roskowiak earned selection to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for a second straight year. Bernardy, Meyer were also selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team.

Men's Golf (8/4): Nathan Woodall*, So., Sioux Falls, S.D.; Blake Berry*, Sr., Storm Lake, Iowa; JJ Cooney*, Sr., Pickstown, S.D.; Jacob Zosel*, Jr., Morris, Minn.; Hank Eggebraaten, So., Sioux Falls, S.D.; Jake Oetzmann, Jr., Urbandale, Iowa; Brenden Bassing, Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Jack Evans, So., Brainerd, Minn.

Earning a third straight honor included Bassing, Cooney, Oetzman and Zosel. Cooney earned his second straight NSIC Academic Team of Excellence honor while Woodall, Berry and Zosel were selected for the first time.

Women's Golf (6/4): Lexi Hanson*, Sr., Chanhassen, Minn.; Sydney Hubbard*, Jr., Onalaska, Wis.; Lexi Jonas*, Jr., Hudson, Wis.; Kyleigh Moran*, Jr., Vermillion, S.D.; Alex Nutter, Jr., Houston, Minn.; and Taylor Sudenga, Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.

Sudenga and Hanson earned their third straight academic all-league honor. Hubbard, Jonas, and Moran were named to their second straight all academic squad. Hanson, Hubbard, Moran, and Jonas earned selection to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for a second straight year.

Mickelson, Mossman and Nieveen were recognized for a third straight year as All-Academic honorees. Uitts, Van Beek and Cheloha earned their second honor. Van Beek, Mossman, Nieveen and Mickelson were selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for a second time while Keen and Straight earned their first honor.

Oyadare, Paul, Rudebusch, Belford, Troescher, Ceglowski, Peterson, Schulz, Anderson, and Phipps earned selection to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for a second time while Stoltz, Ruzsa, Lindell, Streed, Frank, Cigard, and Groeger earned honors for a first time.

Schmitz was named for a third straight year. Klatt, Miller, Quandt, Thorfinnson and Whisler were named for a second straight year. Klatt, Whisler, Schmitz and Quandt earned selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team while Klatt, and Applegate were honored for the first time.
