MANKATO, MINN. -- With the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships featuring the men's competitors on Friday and the women's participants on Saturday, the University of Sioux Falls Men's Track and Field Team put together several solid efforts at the conference meet.
At the Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn., USF had a career-best performance from
Ethan Holm in the heptahlon. Plus, USF had 11 individuals and a relay place in the top 10. At the meet, which began Thursday afternoon, a reduced field size included just the top-16 in each event around the league.
USF was able to secure conference points in the Distance Medley Relay with a seventh place finish. The team of freshman

Logan Hansen and freshman
Ben Morrison clocked 10:33.41 to earn NSIC points. The Cougars finished 12th with two points at the NSIC Championship.
In the Men's Heptathlon, junior
Ethan Holm places ninth with a career-best 3,687 points. His best finish in the 7 events was fourth in the PV (12-01.3). He was eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.54, 700 points), 10
th in the long jump (5.61m, 18-05, 504 points), seventh in the shot put (9.32m, 30-07, 445 points), 10
th in the high jump (1.58m, 5-02.25, 449 points), 10
th in the 60-meter hurdles (10.18, 508 points), 10
th in the 1,000 meter run (3:12.57, 546 points).
Junior Steve Miner had a solid effort in the high jump as he placed 10th with a jump of 6-1 – 1.85m. Also in the field events, USF had a 10
th place finish from junior
Patrick Hagan in the weight throw at 16.48m – 54-01. In the shot put, freshman
Dawson Davito was 10
th as well at 47-09.25 – 14.56m. In the triple jump, sophomore
Isiah Dancy was 13
th at 13-07m - 42-10 ¾. In the pole vault, junior
Jake Person was ninth at 4.12m – 13-06 ¼. In 11
th place in the long jump was sophomore
Christian Riley who finished at 21-05.25.
In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Ben Mandel finished out of scoring position at 8.56, which he lost out for eighth place by six hundred of a second (8.559 to 8.553 to D'Monte Blanks of Minnesota State). Also in the sprints, USF had a ninth-place finish from junior
Nate Andrusick in the 60-meter dash at 7.04.
Matzner was 10
th in the 800-meters in 2:01.43 with
Wil Modjeski, 12
th at 2:02.51. In the 1,000-meters, Hansen was 12
th in 2:39.43.
Junior
David Ecker was ninth in the 3,000 meters at 8:49.70 which was just out of scoring position (8:48.84) and slightly off his season best. He also ran 15:47.89 in the 5,000 meters which placed 15
th. Morrison was 10
th in the mile at 4:25.15 where Voigt took 14
th at 4:33.25.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the Cougars placed 10
th with a time of Modjeski, Voigt, Eckert, and sophomore
Diego Jaimes in 3:45.58.
