MANKATO, MINN. / VERMILLION, S.D. –
Mason Phillips and
KaNya Henderson set school records to highlight performances by the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Teams, which sent split squads to the South Dakota Tune-up at the Lillibridge Track Complex at the University of South Dakota and the Maverick Classic in Mankato, Minn.
At the Maverick Classic, Phillips clocked a school record and NCAA DII provisional mark 3:45.71 in the 1,500 meters and just missed winning a title but broke
Zach Lundberg's 1,500 mark of 3:46.64 in 2019.
Henderson broke her own school mark in the 100-meter dash as she clocked a 12.00. On the same track, she snapped her record of 12.07 at the South Dakota Challenge on April 9. In addition to the school records, USF had four total NCAA DII provisional marks, a series of top-10 program marks and personal-bests. Here is a breakdown of the men's and women's competitions today.
Men's Breakdown at MSU Maverick Classic
As noted, Phillips clocked a school-record and NCAA DII provisional mark of 3:45.71 in the 1,500 meter run to finish second as he was just .28 out of first place. In the same race,
David Ecker was sixth at 4:00.76;
Logan Hansen, seventh at 4:01.62; and
Ben Morrison was ninth in 4:06.77.
In the shot put,
Dawson Davito placed seventh at 47-01-14.35m while
Jaymeson Wolkow placed 12
th at 37-10.5 – 11.54m. Also in the discus for USF,
Carson Hausmann was eighth at 132-01 – 40.26m.
Marek Rex finished 10th at 120-01.75-36.85m and
Jaymeson Wolkow was 12
th at 114-05.75-34.89m.
In the hammer throw,
Patrick Hagan had a throw of 150-03.50-45.81m.

Xavier Blackwell was 18

Ben Mandel was 24
th in the 200-meter dash at 23.73.
In the men's 800,
Zach Matzner was 25
th in a personal-best 1:57.83 while
Wil Modjeski placed 41
st in 2:01.57 and
Diego Jaimes was 46
th in a personal-best 2:03.23. In the 1,500-meter run
Chase Lather placed 27
th in 4:18.67.
Mandel was 15
th in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.64.
Edwin Iraheta ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase and was 14
th in 10:51.52. USF placed 12
th in the 4x400-meter relay with a squad of

In the high jump,
Steven Miner was 11
th in 6-02.25-1.86m. In the long jump
Isiah Dancy was 11
th in 19-07.00-5.97m. He was eighth in the triple jump by going 40-07.75-2.39m
Women's Breakdown - South Dakota Tuneup
At the Lillibridge Track Complex in Vermillion,
KaNya Henderson had a big day for USF. She broke her outdoor school record in the 100-meter by clocking 12.00 which ranks her eighth in the NSIC (based on rankings as of May 6). She was just shy of the 11.90 for an NCAA DII provisional mark. In the same race,
Natalie Meyers was eighth in 12.46 while
Mercy Oyadare was ninth in 12.48 with her personal-best. Meyers and Henderson both had top-10 programs marks although Meyers has a faster (12.13) clocking this year. Also in the race,
Myah Roggenbuck was 23
rd in a personal-best 13.07 while
Lexi Frank was 33
rd in 13.53.
Henderson was also eighth in the 200-meters with a clocking of 25.23 with Oyadare placing 10
th in 25.36, which was a personal-best. Both marks rank in USF's top-10 all-time outdoors. Roggenbuck was 31
st in a personal best of 26.99.
In the 1,500 meters,
Lauren Wells placed third and clocked a personal-best of 4:39.29 which ranks second all-time at USF.
Khot Juac was fifth in 4:46.81. Finishing 30
th was
Josie Boyd in 5:09.73 while
Dani Burtis was 47
th in 5:59.72.
Karlee Simmons placed fourth in the women's steeplechase bettering her own best and ranking in the top-10 all-time at USF with a clocking of 11:50.84.
Tianna Wald was seventh in 12:57.36 which was a personal-best as she ran the race for the first time.
Zoe Cigard finished 15
th with a personal-best in the 800-meters in clocking 2:17.00, which would rank her ninth in the NSIC (rankings as of May 6) and place her third all-time outdoors at USF.
Tianna Wald was 31
st in a personal-best 2:22.30 while
Hannah Ebert was 66
th in a personal-best 2:35.08.
In the 400-meter run,
Annika Aho was 13
th in a personal-best of 1:00.30, while
Emma Kenkel was 14th in 1:00.43. Two others had personal-bests in the race as
Holly Mayers was 16
th in 1:01.15 and
Cassidy O'Meara, 17
th in 1:01.18.
USF also received a 12
th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles by
Emily Olson, who clocked 15.11 and
Emily Swanson was 27
th at 15.73. Also in the hurdles, Olson was 13
th in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best 1:09.72 while
Anna Kenny was 14
th in a personal-best 1:10.22.
The Cougars placed third in the 4x100-meter relay in 47.67 with a squad of Henderson, Oyadare, Kenkel and Meyers. The mark is a season-best and moves the team into the top-five in the NSIC (based on May 6 rankings) and top two all-time at USF. The Cougars also bettered its 4x400 meter relay season mark with a 4:05.64 clocking with a team of Aho, O'Meara, Juac and Wells. USF also placed 12
th in 4:42.00 with a relay of
Moriah Bullerman,
Josie Boyd,
Hannah Ebert and
Dani Burtis.
In the high jump,
Taylor Stoltz placed fifth in 5-20.5 – 1.59m.
Emily Swanson was 13
th at 5-00.50-1.54m which is her personal-best.
Avery Bartunek was 18th in 4-10.50-1.49m while
Cece Will took 26
th in 4-08.75-1.44m.
Swanson moved into the top-five in the NSIC rankings in the pole vault (based on May 6 rankings) with a personal-best of 11-05.75 which placed her 12
th.
Meyers jumped 18-01.74-5.53m with a seventh place finish while
Cassidy Noeldner was 16
th in 16-04.25-4.98m. Also for USF

At the Maverick Classic, USF throwers had a solid day with three combined NCAA DII provisional marks and six top-five finishes.
Miranda Phipps finished third in the javelin throw at 121-00 (36.88 meters).
Ally Welch was 10
th at 89-01 - 27.15 meters.
In the hammer throw, USF had a pair of throwers with NCAA DII provisional marks in
Jaimie McNamee who was third at 178-00.25 – 54.26m while
Emma Hertz was fifth with a throw of 172-10.5 – 52.69m. While not personal-bests or season bests, the throws rank in USF's top-10 all-time. In the hammer,
Kayla Andersen was 10
th in 154-03.25 – 47.02m while MacKenzie Bengtson was 12
th at 153-08.5 with
Cali Boden, 14
th, 149-03 – 45.49m. Also,
Ally Welch was 19

Hertz also had a second NCAA DII provisional mark in the shot put as she placed second at 47-01.75 – 14.37m.
