BROOKINGS, S.D.— The University of Sioux Falls Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field (IDTF) squad had aa number of standout performances at the SDSU Holiday Invitational and Multi, which was hosted by South Dakota State, on Friday and Saturday.
Headlining Friday's events was the NSIC Men's Preseason Men's Athlete of the Year senior Zach Lundberg, who won the Men's 3K Run with a time of 8:32.46. Also with a great showing was USF's Women's Track Athlete to Watch in junior Taryn Ceglowski, who placed second in the Women's 3K as she finished with a time of 10:09.85.
As for the Field Athletes to Watch, senior Emma Hertz earned sixth in the discus (42.78m) on Saturday, as well as earning ninth in the shot put (13.64m) on Friday. Redshirt senior Tristan Zawadzki placed fifth in the pole vault (4.75m, 15-7).
Senior Jacob Morse set a PR in the 60M Hurdles by clocking a 8.23 and third place in the finals.
Also placing in the top five in their respective events were junior Cooper Wood (fourth in the triple jump, 13.01m), Abati Dedefo (fourth in the mile, 4:39.42), and Sam Ricker (fifth in the mile, 4:40.17). In the men's mile, junior Seth Overholt recorded a time of 4:48.96 for eighth place.
Sophomore Taylor Stoltz had a seventh place finish in the women's high jump with a final clearing height of 1.55m.
The Cougars recorded three more seventh place finishes, with sophomore Kanya Henderson in the 60M Dash (7.83), junior Logan Hansen in the men's 800M run (1:55.90), and senior Chandler Nelson in the men's discus (45.73m).
Freshman Jack Nicolai and junior Kayla Andersen rounded out Top 10 placements in individual events, with Nicolai earning ninth in the men's long jump (6.27m) and Andersen earning ninth in the women's weight throw (16.92m).
In the 4x400 Relays, both the men's and women's "a" squads earned 10th. The women's squad, comprised of sophomore Zoe Cigard and freshmen Anna Kenny, Emma Kenkel, and Meara Beighley, clocked a time of 4:17.65. The men's squad, which consists of freshmen Micah Nelson, Nate Grotewold, Jacob Johnson, and Mitchell Cooke, finished with a time of 3:37.86.
What's Next-
The Cougars will not be in action until 2020, where they will travel to Mankato, Minn., for the Minnesota State Invite on Fri., Jan. 17.
