MANKATO, Minn. – Led by a first-place finish from senior
Zach Lundberg and junior
Taryn Ceglowski, the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Squad put together a solid effort between the NSIC Preview at Myers Fieldhouse and the SDSU Indoor Classic at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Complex on Friday and Saturday.
Lundberg, a senior from Omaha, Neb., clocked a 4:13.52 to win the mile run.
Logan Hansen finished 10
th in the mile at 4:24.38.
Headlining the Cougars in Brookings was Ceglowski who emerged victorious in the 1K with a time of 2:56.57, only 1.48 seconds off from her school record.
Also in the men's competition, senior
Chandler Nelson claimed second in the shot put with a mark of 15.29 (50-02.00), as well as fourth in the weight throw by throwing 16.58 meters (54-04.75). The USF Men also had a sixth place finish from sophomore
Casey Hackett (6.46 meters, 21-02.25) in the long jump. Freshman
Christian Riley was 11
th in the long jump at 6.00 meters (19-08.25). USF also had a seventh place result from sophomore
Nate Grotewold who clocked a 1.33.00 in the 600 meters.
For the women's team, sophomore
Carolyn Groeger had a second place finish in the pole vault by going 3.35 meters (10-12).
Led by senior Jamie McNamee, the Cougars had another strong day in the throws. She placed third in the weight throw at 17.92 meters (58-09.5). Senior
Emma Hertz was seventh in the weight throw at 17.10 meters (56-01.25) and took sixth in the shot put at 13.33 meters (43-08.75). Sophomore
Kourtney Rozeboom was eighth in the shot put at 12.60 meters (41-04). Also for USF, Rozeboom was 11
th in the weight throw at 14.90 meters (48-10.5) while Kayla Anderson was ninth in the weight throw at 16.65 meters (54-07.5).
Junior
Emily Olson had a solid day in the jumps and hurdles. She was eighth in the high jump (1.52 meters or 4-11 ¾) and eighth in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.25. She was also ninth in the long jump at 5.23 meters (17-02). Freshman
Natalie Meyers was 10
th in the long jump at 5.20 meters.
In the 400 meters, USF had two in the top 10 of the women's race. Freshman
Holly Mayers was eighth in 1:02.49 while
Emma Kenkel took 10
th in 1:02.93.
Freshman
Cassidy O'Meara finished 10
th in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:23.92.
Sophomore
Maria Streed got a placement point in the 1K, finishing with an eighth-place time of 3:13.48. On the men's side, Lundberg finished fourth with a time of 2:33.49.
In the 4x400 Meter Relay, both the women's A team and men's B team both finished in seventh, with the women finishing at 4:11.19 and the men at 3:36.39.
Hackett also got into the top eight in the triple jump, earning fifth with a distance of 13.73 (45-00.50)
The triple jump gave the Cougars more placement points, as junior
Allison Laibach got a mark of 11.22m (36-09.75).
Cooper wood had a great performance in the triple jump, earning third with a mark of 13.96m (45-09,75).
SDSU Indoor Classic-
In the 60m dash,
Kanya Henderson finished second overall, first amongst attached athletes, with a time of 7.73, as well as
Sarah Troescher at fifth with a time of 7.85.
What's Next-
The Cougars will have another tri-squad split next weekend, with parts of the team going to the SDSU Last Chance Meet, the MSU Maverick Invite, and the Stinger Open (Black Hills State).
