NEW ORLEANS – For the eighth straight year, the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Program was awarded team and individual honors for academic success by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (
USTFCCCA). USF, led by Director of Track and Field/Cross Country
Doug Petersen, earned men's and women's All-Academic team awards while eight student-athletes were honored individually.
To be honored as an All-Academic team, the program must maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes honored must have a 3.25 GPA and achieved an automatic-or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The women's squad was honored for its cumulative GPA of 3.578, which was in the top 20 best of the 93 women's teams honored. As for the men's team, it was among 73 teams honored and compiled a 3.237 GPA.
To be honored individually by the
USTFCCCA, a student-athlete must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and record an NCAA qualifying mark during their season of competition.
Of the 208 honorees in DII, five represented USF's men's team,
Billy Beseman, Master of Business Administration;
Logan Hansen, Theology/Youth Ministry;
Zach Lundberg, Business Administration;
Jayden Slaba, Biology and Tristen Zawadzki, Master of Business Administration. Among the 321 women honored were three from USF including
Kayla Andersen, Theology/Youth Ministry;
Taryn Ceglowski, Spanish/English; and
KaNya Henderson, criminal justice.
The USF Track and Field/Cross Country Program has a combined five national champions, 56 All-Americans, 356 Academic All-NSIC performers, 432 All-NSIC honorees and three Elite 90 Award recipients.
