1992-1994 Women's Cross Country Teams

The Sioux Falls College Women’s Cross Country teams in 1992, 1993, 1994 recorded three South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference (SDIC) championships in just their first four years.

After being established in 1991, the Women’s Cross Country team entered their second season to claim the 1992 SDIC team title with 35 points while placing fourth at the District 12 Meet. Athletes Anna Barnes and Amy Birkeland were named to the All-District team.

In 1993, the team claimed their second title with 32 points. Throughout the season, the program was recognized for the first time as receiving national votes across the NAIA.

Also receiving national votes, the 1994 team secured the third consecutive title for the Cougars with 20 points while placing seven runners within the top-10. Amy Birkeland came away with the programs 5000 meter record.

1992 Team Members: Anna Barnes, Anita Bieber, Amy Birkeland, Kristl Butler, Nicole Gardner, Patti MacDonnell and Susie Stonehouse.

1993 Team Members: Anna Barnes, Amy Birkeland, Kristl Butler, Jenn Falk, Patti MacDonnell, Leticia Muro, Susie Stonehouse and Jennifer Tranas.

1994 Team Members: Anna Barnes, Amy Birkeland, Jenn Falk, Daffanie Hendrickson, Amy Kiesow, Patti MacDonnell, Julie Miller, Jennifer Tranas and Michelle Ward.

These three Women’s Cross Country teams were led by Coach Scott Kieffer and USF Hall of Fame Coach Rich Greeno+.
