Stacy Kooistra joined the USF Men’s Basketball team in 1992 after transferring from the University of South Dakota.

Kooistra averaged 22.3 points a game for the Cougars while suiting up for 56 games. Currently, he sits amongst the USF Top 20 in scoring with 1,247 career points. During the 1993-94 season, he averaged 22.3 points a game totaling 648 points in 29 games for USF, which placed him third in points per season, while shooting 57.4 percent from the field.

Throughout his career with the program, Kooistra earned All-SDIC honors following each season and MVP honors after the conference tournament in 1993. He finished his career with five 37-point games with a career-high of 41 points against Colorado Christian. An all-conference athlete and team captain, Kooistra helped lead USF to a then-school record of 21-8 as well as a No. 3 national ranking. Following his career with USF, he took his talents overseas where he played professionally in Sweden.

Kooistra graduated from the University of Sioux Falls in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and later obtained his Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University in 2001 and then his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Dakota in 2005.

Kooistra currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at the Dakota State University Applied Research Corporation while also serving in the South Dakota Air National Guard as a Colonel. He resides in Brandon, SD with his wife Anna along with their four children Isabel, Oscar, Owen and Emmett.
