Rick Danmeier, who came to USF in 1972 from White Bear Lake, Minn., was first team All-Tri-State Conference and an All-District kicker in 1972 for USF.

He made 11 field goals in 1972, including four in one game, which is still a school record, and earned varsity letters in football in 1972 and 1973, setting a career record of 20 made field goals. During 1972, he set a mark with a 45-yard field goal.

Danmeier, a 1973 graduate of USF, became the first USF athlete to play in the NFL when he signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 1977.  He led the Vikings in scoring for five straight seasons from 1978-1982, and still ranks sixth on the Vikings all-time scoring list (364 points).

Danmeier currently works as a sales representative in sporting goods.
