Hall of Fame
Kristin Kono was a four-year starter for the USF Softball team and a three-time All-Great Plains Athletic Conference performer. Kono was a first-team selection in 2004 and 2006, a second-team selection in 2005, and Honorable Mention All-Conference in 2002. In addition, she was named First Team All-Region IV in 2004 and NAIA All-Region III in 2006.
During her career, Kono set numerous single-season school records, including batting average (.477), runs scored (40), doubles (11), walks (24), and on-base percentage (.571). She ended her career by setting a school record with a .396 batting average. Kono was a key figure in the Cougars' 29-16 season in 2005. That year, USF won the GPAC and Region III championships to advance to the NAIA National Tournament.
Kono was also a crucial member of the USF Women's Basketball NAIA Final Four team and sits third all-time with 315 career assists.
A Sioux Falls native, Kono earned her B.A. in elementary education with endorsements in physical education and coaching from USF in 2006, and her M.Ed. from Augustana College in 2008. Kono resides in Sioux Falls, where she works at UPS.
